This Sunday is Mother’s Day!
So we’ll briefly interrupt our journey through Acts to consider, or perhaps, reconsider, a very familiar passage of Scripture: Proverbs 31. One scholar wisely wrote: “This isn’t merely the ideal housewife for men to measure their wives against.”
Smart man. And smart theology — and it all has to do with a unique, picture-rich genre of ancient Hebrew literature. See, the entire poem is arranged alphabetically as the first word of each line begins with every successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet; basically, we’ll be discovering the ABC’s of wisdom. So it turns out that the ever-famous so-called “Proverbs 31 Woman” is actually a portrait of wisdom and her truth is applicable to anyone, regardless of gender. Come discover how it applies to you this Sunday morning at 9:15 or 11:00.
