Confrontation

October 11, 2008

Sometimes we’re called to confront. And honestly, sometimes I hate that. But that doesn’t get me off the hook.

But not every situation calls for the nuclear option that Paul seems be “deploying” in Acts 13:9-10.

Different situations require different kinds of confrontation. Sometimes it might be a person who doesn’t have all the information and has drawn wrong conclusions. I think you do your best to reason with them. Or, sometimes a person willfully distorts the truth. Depending on the magnitude of the situation, you’ll need to decide the best way to go. But always ask the Holy Spirit to direct you.

Your situation may call for diplomacy. In Acts 17:2 we read that Paul “reasoned with them from the Scriptures.” This same Paul who “lost it” (as he was “filled with the Holy Spirit”) in Acts 13, reasoned in a different situation. Sounds strange I know, but both responses can be Spirit-filled responses, and it all depends on the situation.

Solomon put it this way in Ecclesiastes 3; there’s: a time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace. So we need to ask ourselves: “Is this a time to keep silent, or a time to speak? Is this a time to love, or a time to hate some obvious evil? Is this a cause for hard confrontation, or is this a time for a softer, more diplomatic approach?

Confrontation on the Horizon?

There’s a right way and a wrong way, and it usually has to do with timing and/or your audience. Let’s deal with this together this Sunday morning.

Wear Your Shades

September 12, 2007

As one who suspects he may be suffering from his own ignorance on the subject, I thought this might be helpful…

If you like what you see—and want to keep it that way—you’ll also want to grab a pair of shades on your way out the door in the morning. Summer heralds fun times in the sun, but it also triples the intensity of ultra-violet (UV) rays, in comparison to milder winter beams. Exposure to this harmful radiation spurs the onset of macular degeneration (changes to the part of the retina that is responsible for sharp vision), as well as cataracts—a condition that causes vision loss for some 20 million Americans over 40 and is a leading cause of blindness in the world. Children are the most susceptible to sun damage… For more click here.

C3 On the Move!

September 4, 2007

Some encouraging words from Mark Wigley: “I feel blessed to be a part of a church where faith is so alive. I look how folks rise to the occasion when given the opportunity to minister at C3, it has been unbelievable to me at times. I think of the folks that help with Elizabeth House, sponsor children through Compassion International, fill shoe boxes for needy children in the Ukraine, donate to help children come to the U.S. and have heart operations, minister to people in India, the list goes on. Then I look at how our folks have rallied around helping in the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Katrina. We have taken 5 trips and had 34 people go at least once to help. We have had a small part in repairing twelve houses and one church and through the food and supplies that have been donated God has used us to bless countless families. Over $30,000 has been given and many folks have prayed for those who have gone to do the work. When Katrina hit almost two years ago it would have been so easy to have had a prayer meeting, taken an offering and mail a check with a note saying, “God bless you, we wish you well, keep warm and well fed”. But instead our folks at C3 have made a real difference by showing the true love of God to hurting people. I feel so blessed to be a part of what God is doing through His people at C3. To God Be The Glory!” — Mark
