Through the Aperture: An Introduction to Colossians

This Sunday we’ll begin studying through the New Testament Book of Colossians. The colossal book of Colossians is profound, relevant, and riveting. This is because the main focus of Colossians is Christ Himself. J.B. Phillips said, “Jesus Christ is the aperture through which the immensity and magnificence of God can be seen.” An aperture is the opening of a camera lens that determines the amount of light that comes into the picture. So as we study this epistle, light will flood in for us all to better see God.

In this introduction to Colossians, we’ll consider two necessary study disciplines: Exegesis (what the text meant to the original readers) and interpretation (what the text means to us). It all starts this Sunday morning at 10:00AM.

This Is Risky Business

The Bible is full of men and women who stepped out and found out how big God is when we boldly give our lives to Him. Same for us: WE have to take steps and risks to find out the kind of adventure that God may have for us, because if you’ve never gone out on a limb for God, you’ll never find out what could have been.

What are those things that you know in your heart you should do but have allowed fear to stop you?

Can You See God in the Nuances?

In this season of resurrection, we should be on the lookout for great things but also tiny things because the same God who created the vast expanse of the cosmos also created the atom with all its tiny parts. So perhaps we should seek him in things we might typically take for granted—things that we are sometimes prone to miss.

Join us this Sunday morning at 9:15AM and 11:00AM for “God in the Nuances.” You may just see something you’ve never seen before.
